At Footprint, we understand that every child is unique. Our mission is to help children and teens thrive by identifying their strengths and supporting them in areas where they may face challenges, whether in school, at home, or in social situations. Through compassionate, child centered neuropsychological evaluations, we work together with parents and caregivers to better understand each child’s needs and provide thoughtful, personalized recommendations.

What is a Psycho-educational, Learning Disability, or Neuropsychological Evaluation?

Evaluation and testing helps us understand how your child thinks, learns, and interacts with the world. This process involves activities and tasks designed to assess their thinking skills, academic abilities, social-emotional well-being, and daily functioning. Our evaluations are face-to-face, interactive, and tailored to fit the individual needs of your child.

Our goal is to identify both the strengths your child can build on and the areas where they may need extra support. By understanding these unique traits, we can recommend strategies, services, and accommodations to help them succeed at school, home, and beyond.

FAQ

Neuropsychological Evaluations

  • A neuropsychological assessment is a structured, in-person testing process that looks at how someone learns, thinks, and processes information. It is academic in nature and helps identify learning differences, ADHD, and other cognitive strengths and challenges. At Footprint, neuropsychological testing is available for individuals ages 5-30.

  • We offer a 60-minute consultation for neuropsychological testing upon request. The consultation is $250.

  • A typical assessment begins with an intake appointment, which can be held virtually or in-person. Testing is then completed in person over one to 2-3 days, or 4-6 hours of testing, depending on the individual’s needs. Once all testing is finished, scoring and interpretation begin, followed by the creation of the written report. Results are usually provided within 2 weeks of the final testing date, along with a feedback session to review findings and recommendations.

  • A thorough assessment requires several hours of standardized testing (often 4–6 hours), scoring, interpretation, and detailed report writing. This time ensures accuracy, clarity, and recommendations that meaningfully support the individual.

  • Both the guardian(s) and the child attend the intake appointment. The Neuropsychologist will meet with the guardian(s) to gather background information and understand the concerns, and will also meet with the child during the same visit. This allows for a comprehensive understanding before moving into testing.

  • The initial intake appointment may be held virtually. All neuropsychological testing must be completed in person.

  • All testing takes place at 121 Newark Ave, 4th Floor, Jersey City, NJ 07302. When you arrive, you are welcome to wait in our waiting area until your appointment begins.

  • Results are typically provided within two weeks of the final testing date in the form of a report.

  • Your report is a comprehensive document that brings together everything learned throughout the assessment process. It includes a detailed history, a full explanation of all testing measures used, your or your child’s performance across cognitive, academic, and psychological domains, and a clear interpretation of what those results mean in everyday life. The goal is not just to identify strengths and challenges, but to give you a roadmap.

You will receive individualized recommendations that may include school or workplace accommodations, therapeutic support, referrals for additional services, and evidence-based strategies tailored to the way you or your child learns and functions. Families often share that the report gives them language, clarity, and direction they have been seeking in order to advocate for their child.

  • Testing ranges from $1500–$5000 depending on your needs.

  • We do not accept insurance for neuropsychological testing. However, we provide all necessary paperwork–including a superbill with CPT codes, diagnosis codes, and NPI information–so you may submit claims to your insurance for potential reimbursement.

Socio-Emotional Behavioral Evaluations

  • A socio-emotional behavioral screening/evaluation is a 60–90 minute appointment that includes a structured clinical interview and assessment measures to provide initial recommendations. It helps clarify the therapeutic needs and offers insight on what further support may be needed. Evaluations are available for all ages.

  • Yes, evaluations can be completed remotely.

  • Evaluation results are usually shared with you during the appointment itself. If additional review is needed, you will receive your results and recommendations within 48 hours.

  • An evaluation is $250, available for all ages, and we accept insurance.
